Make a Road Trip From Baltimore, MD to the Poconos, PA!
There are several fantastic cities and towns within a fairly short distance from Baltimore, and the Poconos region is one of the best destinations if you are looking for some rest and relaxation. It is just over three hours distance, but your experience in these beautiful mountains will make you feel like you are a world away.
Routes from Baltimore, MD to the Poconos, PA
There are three major routes that you can follow from Baltimore, MD to the Poconos, PA, all of which take a little over three hours when driving nonstop.
If you want to make a stop by Philadelphia on the way to the Poconos, take I-95 N to Philadelphia and from there, I-476 N to the Poconos. Do keep in mind, though, that this route has tolls.
For a more scenic route, you can take I-83 N out of Baltimore. From this route, you can go one of two ways.
One route is to go up through Lancaster and Reading, and just outside of Allentown you’ll take I-476 N to the Poconos. As you head into the Poconos, you’ll start to pass by picturesque small towns and gorgeous scenery filled with green mountains and numerous state parks—a sight that will not leave you during your stay in the Poconos. This route also has tolls.
To avoid tolls altogether, take I-83 N to Harrisburg, where you will then take I-81 N most of the way to the Poconos. If you need a break from driving, drop by the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory and take a tour!
