Curate Your Perfect Poconos Packing List

Consider the Season

We truly get all four seasons in the Poconos, but on a more mild scale. During the summer, high temperatures rarely break 80º, while the winters see lows in the teens! That being said, the season in which you visit the Pocono Mountains impacts what type of attire to add to your Poconos packing list. Check out a few recommendations for each season below:

Winter

Winter in the Poconos is the most frigid time of the year. While it doesn’t get as cold here as it does other places, we still see our fair share of wind chill, ice, and Poconos snow. Don’t let that deter you, though. The Poconos sees an influx of visitors who enjoy winter sports like skiing

Here are a few items we recommend adding to your Poconos packing list this winter:

  • Down coat or puffer jacket.
  • Layers! Pack long sleeve shirts and sweaters as well as leggings and pants.
  • Mittens or gloves.
  • Lip balm and lotion.

Spring

Spring temperatures in the Poconos vary greatly. In March, the lows dip down into the 20s with highs in the 40s, while May sees high temperatures in the 60s. Check the average temperatures in the Poconos to see what the weather will most likely be like during your springtime visit.

Here are a few items we recommend adding to your Poconos packing list this spring:

  • Down coat or fleece jacket.
  • Workout gear. This is a great time to cycle or jog outdoors!
  • Hiking shoes.

Summer

We love the mild summers in the Poconos! With low humidity and temperatures in the high 70s, summertime in the Pocono Mountains is perfect for exploring our area’s beautiful, green landscape. A great way to do this is to throw on your hiking shoes and visit state parks in the Poconos!

Here are a few items we recommend adding to your Poconos packing list this summer:

  • Outdoor/workout gear.
  • Hiking shoes.
  • Reusable water bottle.
  • Sunscreen! While the temperatures are mild, the UV index is still high. Don’t risk a sunburn!

Fall

Autumn in the Poconos boasts stunning fall foliage! Check the fall foliage forecast to see what’s changing during your visit. As the months turn from September to October, and finally November, the colors get richer in color and temperatures cool down—giving guests a taste of what’s to come during winter! Your fall getaway looks different from September to November, so take the specific month you’re traveling into consideration.

Here are a few items we recommend adding to your Poconos packing list this fall:

  • Your favorite cozy coat.
  • Sunglasses for shielding the sun on a scenic drive.
  • Hiking shoes and outdoor gear.
