We Know the Most Exciting Ways to Enjoy Poconos Snow This Winter

Winter is the most picturesque time of year in the Pocono Mountains. Snow-capped summits and constant flurries paint the picture of a winter wonderland. Behind the scenes, winter in the Poconos features locals and visitors alike shredding through the Poconos snow via skis, tubes, and sleds! These are just a few of our area’s most dearly-held winter season activities. The Poconos get roughly 50 inches of the white stuff each year, so snow conditions are almost always good! Take Advantage of the Poconos Snow With These Winter Activites

Skiing

Hit the slopes and enjoy the Poconos snow this ski season! Skiing is one of the most popular winter activities in our area— and for good reason. No matter your skill level, there’s a Pocono ski resort or park for you! We recommend Shawnee Mountain Ski Area for family or group travelers with a mix of skills. The Shawnee Mountain’s ski trails are made up of various difficulties — 25 percent beginner, 50 percent intermediate, and 25 percent expert. Other ski areas include Big Boulder Park, Blue Mountain Resort, and Camelback Mountain.

Snow Tubing

Try your hand at snow tubing in the Poconos for something a little physically intense. This winter activity is fun for all ages! Simply rent your tube, and take off from your lane on a downhill adventure. When you reach the plateau, take a conveyer back up and do it all over again. Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Resorts are popular spots for this winter activity. At $25 per two-hour session, it’s affordable family-fun, too!

Dog Sledding

Take a sleigh ride like never before with Arctic Paws Dog Sled Tours. This dog sled tour company is the only of its kind in the Poconos. For enjoyable and humane dog sledding, the conditions have to be just right. There must be at least four inches of snow on the ground, all riders must be at least 8 years old, and you must get some basic training in with the experts. While it’s an exciting way to enjoy the Poconos snow, it’s also no easy feat!
