3 Thrilling Pocono Raceway Events You’ll Want to Attend

Did you know that automobile races were first held on public streets? Since conditions were not always safe for this practice, people began to race on horse tracks instead. This led to modern raceways specifically designed for racing cars. Today, you can enjoy high-speed car races as they unfold before your eyes. The Pocono Raceway events coming up will provide a spectacle you don’t want to miss!

When you’re ready to start planning your trip, access our free Pocono Mountains Vacation Guide! This resource is filled with local insight on what to explore during your trip to our area.

The Pocono Raceway

The Pocono Raceway, also known as the “Tricky Triangle,” was first constructed in 1968. Over the years, it has come to enjoy a reputation as a unique track. It is one of the few NASCAR courses not owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. or the National Speedway Corporation.

The Track

The Pocono Raceway has the racetrack plus three separate infield sections that connect to the main track, allowing for more lap options during non-race weekends. Each turn on the main track is modeled after turns on other tracks throughout the U.S., making these turns difficult since they are all different from each other. The stretches between the turns also differ in length, which compounds the challenge.

Other Events

In addition to the NASCAR races it hosts, the Pocono Raceway is home to other kinds of entertainment.

Various sports car companies enjoy the use of this track, like Signature Car Collection from whom you can rent a sports car.

You have a choice of riding along as a professional commandeers the car for a heart-racing experience similar to the real thing, or you can take the wheel yourself. If you’d prefer something smaller-scale, consider go-kart racing!

The Poconos Raceway hosts exciting races and annual events!
